Sunday |
The reunion took place on Saturday. If memories serve, we stayed with Valerie’s parents in Redlands and then went to Church the next day in our dear old San Bernardino Third Ward Chapel on Pacific Avenue. Where we reenacted a(n) historic moment in our youthful lives. Apologies for my blurry photography (I don’t think I was weeping), but I stood approximately where I did on that epoch-making Sunday morning in 1957 and snapped Brent (in the role of Don Ellsworth) with, on his manly arm, the lovely, fifteen-year-old, newly-arrived-in-town Valerie Jorgenson, played by her 62-year-old, still-adorable version. That was the moment that I first clapped eyes on my darling eternal partner, thus initiating, as we like to say, three years of acquaintance, followed by three years of dating, then three years of engagement, and (as of then) forty-nine of marriage, as a prelude to eternity. |

After Church, we took some of Doris’ flowers to Montecito to adorn the graves of five of our dear departed. |
