Grandpa Isaac became a cause célèbre for me in 2001, when the nice folks in the office at the Salt Lake City Cemetery said, “Sure, Isaac Decker’s buried here. Right over there!” pointing at a well-kept but empty patch of grass. Then further investigation revealed that much of what had been published about him by the Utah historical people was simply wrong.

It took me five years to get up the price of a decent monument for our ancestral pioneer. Then we arranged for Valerie and me to be buried in his immediate neighborhood.
