Baccalaureate

I’m guessing this was the Reverend Gilford E Olmsted, Pastor of the First Christian Church of San Bernardino, delivering his baccalaureate sermon. Although it could be one of the other nice clergymen contributing a prayer to the proceedings.
He bears an uncommon and, for me, an evocative name. Were I to meet the Reverend Mr. Olmsted now, my first question would inquire into his very likely kinship with James and Nicholas Olmsted, my tenth and ninth great-grandfathers, respectively, founding landowners (1630) in what would become Harvard Square, and later founders (with eighth great-grandfather Thomas Hooker) of Hartford and of Connecticut. In 1958, alas, I was too ignorant to seize the opportunity.

Interesting also (at least to me) that my Seely forebears were among the founders (1638) of New Haven and (1639) of neighboring Guilford, Connecticut.
