Scholarships

Pappy took these shots at the awards assembly, where they passed out the scholarships and other goodies that comprised the payoff of all this academic labor and salesmanship. That’s our beloved Harry Harbaugh at right in the top photo, waiting for the band’s next number. Don’t recall whether I rose from my place in the band, or from among the lovelies at (house) left.

At this gathering, it became clear that Pacific High’s Class of 1958 had managed to garner a whole lot more than its fair share of the available scholarships. I’ll walk you through two illustrative examples: the Bank of America Achievement Awards, and the National Merit Scholarships.
