2018—Replaced Right Shoulder (Again)
As I mentioned in the context of the FIRST arthroplasty of my right shoulder joint, THIS time, Dr Donigan put it in BACKWARDS. On purpose. Instead of pounding the spike with the ball into the marrow of my humerus through its sawed-off end, where it used to hold the ball of the ball-and-socket joint, as you can see, the spike extends (albeit briefly) perpendicularly from a flat plate, against which the ball, attached (apparently rigidly) to the shoulder itself, rolls.

Not sure I understood in advance that this arrangement would restrict the lifting capacity of my right arm as much as it has. They told me afterward not to try to lift anything heavier than eight pounds. These
days, I can manage more than that, but my twice-replaced right shoulder remains notably weaker than the other one.

Hope my current set of fancy, metallic shoulders lasts at least as long as I do, ’cause I’m not really up for another go-around. Same goes for the hips: both work tolerably, for the moment, and the prospect of further surgery daunts.
