Magré Sealing
For several years, beginning about this time, I was listed as the only French-speaking sealer in the Bountiful Temple. So, when Marie Lise Ferguson, a fellow temple worker and a native of France, was arranging for her Norway-resident brother to receive his temple blessings, she asked if I would do the honors. bount
I was delighted, of course, and so on the fifteenth of October I was privileged to seal Michel Jean Victor Magré to his wife Geneviève Irene Roulin and to his deceased parents.
This was the first time since the 1970s that I had performed Temple ordinances in French. We had bussed down with other Boston folks to the then-new Washington DC Temple. At the end of a session, Lynn Sleight, an ordinance worker there, asked the company if anybody could officiate in French, and I raised my hand tentatively, inasmuch as my only previous such opportunity had arisen a decade earlier, in the last month of my first mission, April 1964, when the whole Mission went to the temple in Bern, Switzerland, and I’d had the opportunity to administer the ordinances to several of my yokefellows, including all my “surviving” companions.

I then spent the rest of the weekend helping Brother Sleight deal with an unexpected busload from Montréal. As we left, he handed me a card certifying me as a French-language ordinance worker. I’ve lost the card, alas.
