2003—Back to Temple Work |
Church: Temple Ordinance Worker |
After two years of very sweet labor in the
Boston Temple, we were ready and eager to continue the experience in Bountiful, ten miles south from Chankly. So we made our availability known, and the appropriate organizational wheels turned.
Not until December did we receive an invitation to meet with President Woolley of the Bountiful Temple. After the customary conversation, he set us apart as ordinance workers and asked, “So, when can you work?” We replied that we were new in town, with few schedule constraints. He: “Good! Friday and Saturday nights!” Until a medical disaster a decade later, I continued to serve from 3:00 p.m. ’til closing, each Friday and Saturday. As a sealer, since late in 2004. Valerie’s current schedule’s a bit more complicated. It has meant that we’re pretty much inactive in our lovely (Fox Pointe) congregation, inasmuch as most ward and stake events take place while we’re on duty in Bountiful. |
