Carlisle |
For most of our Timbaloo years, all we knew about the western Boston suburb named Carlisle was that the Kimball family sold marvelous ice cream, in humongous portions, from its farm there. Then I started wondering how our central couple, Oliver Wheeler of Acton and Hepzibah Munroe of inconveniently far-away Billerica, ever got together. And I learned that the present town boundaries of Carlisle enclose not only the homesteads of the Wheeler and Munroe families (about a mile apart!) but those of three other fascinating ancestors. Not to mention most of our family’s Minute Men from the 19th of April!
I published the PDF version of the Carlisle section on Pappy’s 95th birthday, May 19, 2008; it runs to 105 pages, and I’ve embedded it below: |
