Our friend since 1968, neighbor for decades, Pappy’s assistant in France, driver of that Citroën, stake president who called me as a branch president, fellow resident of 3, rue de Lota, disliker of garlic, etc., etc., decided to run against Teddy Kennedy for the Senate. I wouldn’t have needed all those connections to decide to vote for him—or against Teddy, for that matter. People are often surprised when I tell them that, to this day, Mitt and I have never talked politics. |
