2006—Grandpa Isaac, at last! |
Back in the spring of 2001, I went looking for family graves in Salt Lake City Cemetery and learned that 3-Greats-Grandpa Isaac Decker lay there with no marker. As quickly as I could get to my computer, I spread this appeal to everybody I thought might care: |
|
With a lot of help from a few cherished cousins and the contributions of several more, it took five years to raise the funds, but we finally gathered on the 11th of November, 2006, to dedicate Grandpa’s monument and to rededicate his grave.
The Deseret News kindly wrote up the event, and we recorded the proceedings. In case you care to hear the recording, you can download it here, if my Dropbox is still working when you read this. Otherwise, the audio file “Isaac Decker Rededication.wav” resides somewhere in my computer files. A transcription follows, and you can find the whole story in the Isaac Decker section in this collection. |
