2005—July: Keokuk to Chankly and Onward
Keokukkers
Emily, Johnny, Zannah
Spent most of July at Keokuk, of course, on our way back to the mountains. It was good to see the sweet Keokooks, as some of them sometimes denominated themselves, but I for one was still in palpable mourning that we weren’t coming to stay. And go broke. And die.
The rest of the year, we pretty much stayed home and minded our business. Well, sorta, I guess. By this time, after all, Valerie had a big rescue job to do in her garden.

But, as detailed in the Christmas letter, one or both of us (usually she) still preserved enough residual wanderlust to undertake side trips to "Los Altos, to "Reno, once again (by train) to "Keokuk, again to Los Altos, and finally (both of us) to "Yorba Linda for the holidays.
