Maybe somebody with a better memory than mine can help explain this one. As far as I recall, we wore these academic regalia only for after-dark events. The rental folks collected the robes at Perris Hill, right after the commencement ceremony on Tuesday evening, after dark. We kept the tassels as mementos. And since many of the mortarboard caps went skyward in the customary post-diploma jubilation, I believe we just wrote them off.
Yet here we are, pink cheeks and all, clearly in the smoggy light of daytime San Bernardino, in June, on the Pacific High campus. Must have been Tuesday afternoon, but to what purpose, I don’t remember. The folks must have been in the vicinity, or this image wouldn’t have figured in Pappy’s slide collection. |
