2001—May: Rick and Laura in Sparks

After good years in North Carolina, the Rick and Laura Anderson family have cast their lot in the Truckee Meadows of Nevada. Rick is in charge of acquisitions for the library at the University of Nevada at Reno.

Laura declares (and I subsequently repeat to excess) that there is no truth to the rumor that Reno is hell. But you can see Sparks from there.

We and the Ralstons traversed Interstate 80 through the Utah desert and northern Nevada to meet their new digs, their new ward, and their new friends. These shots document a family outing on the sixth of May to park facilities on the banks of the Truckee River, in downtown Reno. Hepzibah and I pedaled from Sparks to the park, as one photo records. The rest of the crowd piled into Ron’s and Cyndi’s SUV.
