| See why I called them the Twins? Similarly and highly photogenic, our blue-eyed sweeties. The shot in the kitchen may not have anything specific to do with Christmas, but it brings back festive memories. Valerie wouldn’t let me do anything much in that room: it was her domain, even if she always wished it larger and otherwise appointed. |
| Except for Saturday mornings. She’d sleep in, and the kids and I would collaborate on breakfasts that didn’t necessarily conform to the usual standards of healthful gastronomy. Cocoa-ripple ring (from the plaid BH&G cookbook), sourdough chocolate-chip muffins and waffles… Hard to tell, but that looks suspiciously like the precursor to a sopaipilla, there in the flour on the counter. |
