12-30 Nous n’avons pas pris le petit [74] déjeuner ce matin. À sa place, nous avons tenu un service de baptême, commençant à 9h00 le matin. Les Leroy sont enfin baptisés, sauf Josette. Les renseignments suivent:

Hubert Lucien Alain Leroy, baptisé et confirmé par moi.
Avec ceux de ce matin, Elder Higley a baptisé quinze ici à Rennes et vingt pendant sa mission jusqu’ici. Quant à moi, ceux-ci sont mon quatrième et mon cinquième.
La famille devient de plus en plus amicale; l’adversaire les a tracassé sérieusement jusqu’ici, mais j’espère et je prie qu’ils auront la force dont ils auront grand besoin.
En confirmant Hubert, je l’ai averti qu’il lui faudrait employer toutes ses forces pour surmonter les tentations qui lui viendraient. Mais je l’ai rassuré que, selon l’écriture, il ne serait jamais tenté au delà de ses forces: qu’il serait à lui de prendre de grands soins pour rester fidèle aux alliances qu’il a faites ce matin. Je crois, moi-même, qu’il est le plus fort de la famille, et qu’il aidera ses proches parents et aussi les autres membres de la branche de se maintenir proches à l’Église.
12-31 Hier soir, les Elders Miller et Enos ont reçu leur télégramme leur disant de se transférer. Elder Miller à Angers et Elder Enos à Paris. Tout le monde sera désolé de les voir partir, surtout soeur Catherine Letort, qui est assez éprise de l’elder Miller.

arrange for us to get it, and he went to get it this afternoon about 1:30. Now it’s 7:30, and he isn’t back yet. The baptisms won’t happen tonight; we can only hope that their desire to receive baptism will last until we can get our act together.
12-30 We didn’t have [74] breakfast this morning. Instead, we held a baptismal service at 9 a.m. The Leroys are finally baptized, except Josette. Here are the data:

Elder Higley and his companions have baptized fifteen here at Rennes and twenty thus far in his mission. These are my fourth and fifth.
The family is becoming more and more friendly; the Enemy has bothered them seriously until now, but I hope and pray that they’ll have the strength that they’ll need.
While confirming Hubert, I warned him that he’ll have to use all his strength to overcome the temptations that he’ll encounter. But I assured him that, as the Scripture says, he’ll never be tried beyond his ability to resist: that it will be up to him to take great care to keep the covenants he made this morning. Myself, I believe that he’s the strongest of the family, and that he’ll help his near kin and also other branch members to stay close to the Church.
12-31 Last evening, Elders Miller and Enos received their transfer telegram. Elder Miller is going to Angers, and Elder Enos to Paris. Everybody’s sorry to see them go, especially young Sister Catherine Letort [sister of Patrick], who has a case on Elder Miller.
