While I was in high school, 1955-58, we made two big
jumps: (1) to a second car, so that the folks could handle
their dispersed commitments, and (2) to a (gasp!) foreign
car.

Very early in this account, I introduced San Bernardino with a rather wonderful image of the Stater Bros parking lot, with a modest cameo rôle for our Bébé. And here’s another shot, right after she sprouted a bright red paint job. I don’t recall |
whether she had been (horrors!) damaged, or whether Pappy had just decided she was too cute to remain beige.
Valerie drove Bébé to work in 1963, while I was missionarying and the folks were visiting in France, and while Valerie and Brent and Jim and Renée Allen occupied the homestead. So it must have been after we married that the folks replaced Bébé with… |
