More at the Bookcase
Pappy’s sweet kid sister Ruth1 was just 12 when the folks opened their wedding presents in 1936. Which means she was 17 when I came along. I’m told she babysat me a lot, and we were great buddies, from the start. Well, from my start, anyway, and for the rest of her life. Here she sits with son Scott Dunaway, as part of the portrait session we’ve been enjoying. Suspect her Jim may have been among the photographers; he doesn’t seem to have been a subject, that day.

Brent and I both played clarinet in those days. He looks right spiffy in his “Bwum Scout”fit. Not so sure about my Pacific Pirates Marching Band uniform. We’ll pass in silence over somebody’s apparent need to decapitate me.
1Ruth Eloese Anderson: early on, I apparently relabeled her “Oophie.” Somebody later elided “Little Oophie” to “Loophie.”
