James Russell (1695-1773) |
|
This is our eighth-great-uncle James Russell, son of
William and Hannah Adams
Russell and older brother of our 7th great grandmother
Hannah Russell, who married Jonathan
Wheeler, the father of our 6GGF
Oliver Wheeler I.
James’ first wife Susannah Farrer lies next to him in the Old Hill Burying Ground in Concord. We are given to understand that James inherited and he and Susannah farmed the ancestral spread in later Carlisle. Their Minute Man son Lieutenant James Russell led Carlisle’s contingent to Concord Bridge, two years after the death of this James. His big brother William married Philadelphia Shepard (the records usually spell her forename something like “ffiladelffia”), and the births of their sons John and Jason are recorded in Concord in 1716 and 1718, respectively. |
