Will the Comité…
…continued
17 people came into the Church or activity from that project.  President Hinckley asked me to come to Paris and redo it and work with the RCA-Pathe engineers to make a 33 rpm record to substitute for the single recording we had.  RCA also made a really nice record jacket for it.

I only learned later that it was used in several Temple Visitors Centers and other places to tell the story of the “Mormons” and their religion and life style.  The project also lead to the Church hiring an inactive member who helped us with it.  He was the equivalent of a French CPA and was hired by the Church to go to Tahiti as a comptroller or something similar for that mission.  I regret that I never stayed in touch with him.  And of course what I did tht I thought was so good is now “Church illegal”—we ain’t no mo “Mormons.”  Ain’t persuaded that was a step into Satan’s turf!

Nickname?  I think Gordon called me “Hoxie”—and always with affection.  Gordon has remained my closest and most frequent mission era friendship.  He spent a little time at our home incidental to teaching and attending the Shakespeare activities in Cedar City.

Do you remember Roger Collins from California?  He was terrific.  Could walk a street where every door was slammed in the missionaries’ faces and get in every door that was closed an hour before.  He gave everybody nicknames and lead the Lille-Roubaix District to the top of Mission success.  Had the help of Sisters Linda and Melba Jensen.  As good as they come.  He had nicknames for everyone and broke all the rules about how other missionaries were addressed.  But it was always with fun and love and his leadership was natural.

When Sharon divorced me she destroyed all of my mission documents and scrapbook, so I have nothing except my personal journal and slides.  What chance you kept each of the weekly reports from our mission?  I would love to borrow them and make color copies of them for a sort of recreated mission memory book.  I have a color copier at my home office and in Pocatello so if you cold trust me with them I could pick them up and return them promptly after copying.

I responded:

Treasured Lowell (copies to the others)—

Thanks, ever so, for your prompt and still-after-all-this-time-loving responses, appended.

I’m reading between your lines  that my navigational efforts didn’t get you to the second page of the excerpt I sent you last week, in which I quote you extensively and I hope acceptably. It’ll come up directly from behind this link:
