FHC Newsletter Editor
One evening, in the spring of 2008, I answered Chankly’s front door and welcomed, unexpectedly, Greg Garfield, a member of the Kaysville Haight Creek High Council, clad in nineteenth-century rural apparel. He must have been in a hurry to extend to me a rather unusual call to Church service: after several strenuous days as a “Pa” in our stake’s annual “Trek” reenactment of the late-1840s handcart pioneer experience, he hadn’t yet returned home for a shower and to don the customary necktie.

I was never entirely sure whether this was an official church calling or just a request to help Greg out. I was already serving as Fox Point(e) Ward Music Chairman and as a Family History Consultant, either of which would normally be considered a full-Church-service assignment, particularly in a community so well-supplied with willing “laborers in the Kingdom”. But I was retired, so what the heck. Kinda felt like the Merrimack Stake, all over again.
Be that as it may, I found myself invested with a very official badge of office and assigned to put out a newsletter every two months for the Kaysville Family History Center, which served the population (Church members and not) of eight stakes in Kaysville and Fruit Heights.* badge
The first of four Numbers of Volume 1 of the Newsletter appeared in the Center’s computers and on the table by the door in June of 2008, and the last in September of 2010. Couldn’t swear that anybody ever read it, nor do I recall receiving a formal release from my duties at the Family History Center. The job kinda evolved out of existence. In case anybody ever wants to consult them, the 87 concatenated pages of the newsletter are embedded below, in PDF form:

*Fruit Heights, located up “on the bench,” used to be the eastern part of Kaysville. The wealthier part, until it seceded. Some of us get a kick out of calling it “Alta Kaysville.” Or maybe Kaysville is more accurately “Baja Fruit Heights”?
