1983—Reunion in Batesville

As the previous year, once the kids were out of school, we headed for Brent’s and Janet’s in Indiana. This time, we’d organized a major family reunion, with two principal celebrities:
  • 92-year-old Grandma Anna Eloese Poulsen Anderson, and

  • almost-18-year-old Rick, who was on his way to school at Ricks (no relation—nowadays called Brigham Young University - Idaho) College in Rexburg, Idaho. Note the suit and the haircut that they would expect at a Church school. And the novel, which was probably his choice, rather than a summer-vacation assignment from educational authorities at either end of his trajectory.
