Valerie and I met our new family members in inverse birth order: Chrissy first, then Dave, and finally Lynne.

They’re a fine-looking couple, posed by the car in the parking lot. This is labeled as a 1969 photo; if so, it wasn’t the middle of the year. I know, because we stopped by their apartment in Salt Lake City as part of our late-spring trip to the West that included the Oakland Temple on June 5. Chrissy’s glorious state of sixth-month pregnancy formed my strongest first impression of her. Brent referred to her as “cute li’l ol’ fat Chris,” which didn’t seem to offend at all.

Their Hillary arrived on 14 September 1969. If this photo really was taken that year, it had to be either early or late in the year.
