Marching Band
Here’s Del the Drum Major, out in front.

Came to loathe that heavy, scratchy, purple-and-gray (silver) wool uniform. A hot-weather march (could there ever be another kind?) would invariably leave my pudgy little inner thighs chafed and bleeding.
That’s I in the foreground, striding out nonetheless.

Never occurred to me to seek to return to the more sedentary life of high-school orchestra, though. Not sure why not. The band was clearly more macho and socially with-it, but those criteria never mattered a whole lot to me. Being demonstrably neither.
