But we also looped around through Luxembourg, stopping in the rural village of Differdange to visit the family of Ernesto Flenghi, who had been a prisoner of war in Utah when I was in diapers. He and
Pappy had maintained correspondence, ever since. Their hospitality was splendid, although most of the family members didn’t share any language with us. Guess we shoulda learned Luxembourgeois before coming.
We spent the night in the City of Luxembourg, which was celebrating its 1000th anniversary as a city. |
