Journal March 17-20, 1962

March 17 (continued)—To show you just how honest she is, here’s how she received the Book of Mormon that she likes so well. She had asked, “May I have a copy?” We said yes. “How much does it cost?…Oh, I don’t have that much at the house just now, but I’ll bring it tomorrow night.” So we offered to loan her a copy, but she refused, saying that she never does anything on credit. Then she found 150 [old] francs [about 30ยข] and gave it to us for the book, which we tried to give her. But she said no, she never accepts anything until she’s paid for it. A good Mormon attitude, wouldn’t you agree? And one that not every Mormon lives by.

Annick Leroy has been doing good missionary work. She visited the Lelièvre/Daligault family to speak with Danièle Daligault, a girl of her age to whom we’d given a first discussion. She came to the meeting this morning with Annick, and she says she may become part of the Church.

My old Cambridge friend, Lynn Bennion, is now here as his brother’s companion, replacing Davy Crockett, who went to Orléans.

Well, there it is: I’ve served one-sixth of my mission. The day after tomorrow, I’ll have been five months in Rennes. Today is my fifth monthiversary in France.

March 20— Sister Salomon will be baptized tomorrow evening—and at her home! She has offered her kitchen as a place to set up the font. We’ll spend most of the day tomorrow with her.
