Mammy (??), Wayne Reeves, Valerie, Don Sloan, Linda Gomis, ?, and Joe Cook
Valerie smiles, front and just left of center, and Joe Cook supervises from the right, as the Institute class and the Lambda Delta Sigma chapter presents a collection of Church books to the San Bernardino Valley College library, in 1962 or 1963, while I was in France.

As the newspaper article on the next page says, Mammy was the Institute teacher and the Lambda Delt adviser; Professor Pappy was the faculty adviser for Lambda Delt.1 The College lay within the boundaries of the Rialto Stake, whose founding president was Wayne Reeves. Valerie was Institute Secretary, and her friend Linda Gomis served with her on the committee that organized bake sales to fund the purchase of the books.

Joe was Wayne’s High Councilor2 in charge of education. That MAY be Mammy on the left, with her eyes tight shut: she surely belonged in the picture. If that’s she, though, it may be the worst likeness I’ve seen.
1He called it, privately, “Lambda Delta Stigma.”
2In our private family lingo, “High Scoundrel.”
