Seminary 1956-57
Junior year 1956-57, we studied the New Testament.

“Coach”1 Mammy was a tough grader: I didn’t draw A-minuses from any of my other teachers. If the public school had accepted Seminary grades, that first-semester A-minus might have dropped me out of the Valedictorians’ Society. I don’t recall that Pappy expressed any distress over this report. He signed it, each quarter, in any case. As parent, not as Seminary Supervisor.

1It was the Killer who hung this title on our Mammy. He had something to say in class and, being himself an Anderson, stumbled a bit over his tongue, with “Sister Anderson! uh, Mom… HEY, COACH!”
