Two more shots of these excellent brethren,
Vern Hansen
and Shirley Bogh, both central players in the drama of my youth. Both now (2006) long gone to their permanent happiness. Shirley’s wife
Vera is still with us,
though, in her spunky nineties.
Wish I could recognize more of the people in these pictures.
That might be Leola
Ord in the bottom shot, arms folded, between the
two diggers. And that’s surely the unmistakable
Iris Brown in the
same picture, with gray hair, just
past the house at far right. The tall dude next to her would
then likely be her husband, former Bishop (and later Pappy’s successor as Patriarch)
Webb K Brown.
In the background, below, a pretty fair image of the north
façade of our “Seminary
house.” This structure, which of course no longer stands, enclosed the genesis of a whole lot of memories.

Like Seminary Coach Mammy
moving me across the classroom, away from my cronies
the Killer
and Don Ellsworth,
to sit next to a quiet girl named
Valerie… All in the interest of classroom order, of course.
