A lot of effort went into Pacific’s full-court press to get more than its share of publicity, scholarship money, and recognition. Yes, I put forth a strongly-guided share of that effort and received, I now believe, rather more than a corresponding share of the benefits.

The next few pages display some of those outcomes, with an emphasis on items from which memorabilia have survived the intervening nearly half-century. If I’m forgetting anything important, it’s only because my forgetter has developed without obvious limit, even as just about everything else has decayed.

This very flattering item, for example, hit the San Bernardino Sun-Telegram, late in my senior year, betokening clearly an energetic and effective publicity campaign on somebody’s part. Neither then nor now have I any way to know just who spearheaded that effort, although the buck has to stop by default at Doctor Bailey’s desk.
