Old friend and Key Club President Steve Watkins was our
entry in the Science and Mathematics category, and the lad from Upland beat him out in that very competitive area. Otherwise, we’d have walked off with all the semifinal honors for the zone.
Interestingly enough, our three finalists (each at this point guaranteed some cash winnings) would only weeks later be named Pacific’s three co-valedictorians for 1958.
