Pacific High School, 1955-58
Located at 1020 Pacific Street, at the southwest corner of Perris Hill Park, Pacific High had a sprawling, up-to-date physical plant, complete with an extensive agriculture-ed installation toward its eastern end. “FFA” on Perris Hill stood for “Future Farmers of America.” My particularly cherished classmate and fellow valedictorian Michael Smith “the Killer” Anderson was an “Ag” major and resides nowadays (2006) in the very agricultural community of Panaca, Nevada.

If old San Bernardino High School ever had anything of the sort, it must have been cramped, over in their campus around 18th and E.

PHS009PHS.jpg Until Pacific came along, “Berdoo High” (the Cardinals; red and black, naturally) had always been the only public secondary ed. show in town. Already venerable many years ago, when Valerie’s mother, Doris, and her siblings went to San Bernardino High School.

One of our disrespectful football cheers (only one of them) was “We want bird meat!…”
