Sun-Telegram |
For Christmas 1953, Pappy kindly added to his annual family photographic routine a card for my customers. Yes, that year I delivered morning newpapers for the San Bernardino Sun-Telegram. This typically-professional Pappy-style card landed me a tidy pile of cash gifts, that year.
Wish I had a decent image of beloved neighbor and Sun supervisor Jack Jolley, who made that bike for me out of spare parts; the bike I had wasn’t up to the heavy duty my job (wow!) would require. If I paid him for it, it wasn’t much. |
At left, old friends Jack Jolley and Ray Thatcher at our wedding reception. At right, the Jolleys (Valeer and Jack), at Mammy’s graveside. This is the best I’ve got, for now. |
