Sun-Telegram
For Christmas 1953, Pappy kindly added to his annual family photographic routine a card for my customers. Yes, that year I delivered morning newpapers for the San Bernardino Sun-Telegram. This typically-professional Pappy-style card landed me a tidy pile of cash gifts, that year.

Wish I had a decent image of beloved neighbor and Sun supervisor Jack Jolley, who made that bike for me out of spare parts; the bike I had wasn’t up to the heavy duty my job (wow!) would require. If I paid him for it, it wasn’t much.
At left, old friends Jack Jolley and Ray Thatcher at our wedding reception. At right, the Jolleys (Valeer and Jack), at Mammy’s graveside. This is the best I’ve got, for now.
