Third Stop: John and Mary Barr Neff |
The honored parents of Franklin Neff, father of my Grandma Alfaretta Neff Seely, came from Pennsylvania and lived in Nauvoo and Winter Quarters before emigrating to East Mill Creek in Salt Lake in 1847. Their inspirational pioneer story is central to our Utah heritage and occupies much of this family history material. See particularly Alfa Jean Carter’s Big Neff Book. |
The column memorializes John and Mary; their graves are nearby. The other three sides honor also their firstborn, our Aunt Barbara Matilda Neff, who married Julian Moses, Uncle Amos Herr Neff, and Grandpa Franklin Neff’s first wife, Elizabeth Musser. I don’t know whether Amos, Barbara or Elizabeth are in fact buried here. |
