back William And Mary Munroe next
This is Munroe headquarters for early New England. Others of the ancient, warlike, Highland clan, including the ancestor of the later President, came to Virginia about the same time (1652) as William the Immigrant.

The stones in the near background belong to Munroes who married into the Tidd and Rugg families, with their spouses and children, our first or second cousins, seven or eight times (generations) removed. Off the picture to the right lie William’s third wife Elizabeth Johnson, by whom he had no children, and several of his children by Martha and Mary.
