Watertown: Clapp’s Landing |
The marker provides more details, apparently in Clapp’s own words.
The Clapp party’s landing place is marked on the north bank of the Charles, seven-tenths of a mile east of Watertown Square. Just how accurately…it’s hard to tell. Here’s a map. Then a letter directed them to move on to Mattapan, site of present-day Dorchester, where better grazing land was to be had. They loaded their boats and vacated the premises. |
