And life, as the cliché has it, went on. The very next month after Pappy’s funeral, it was my honor to serve as chairman (as choir director) and minor performer in the already-traditional Arlington Ward Spring Sing. Nancy, you’ll note, is listed as Ward Music Director. But anybody who knew anything about it understood that the brilliant and exceedingly-modest Linda Darley Huppi was the perennial sparkplug of the event, even though she’s credited only with “Accompaniments.” True enough: I’ve known no better accompanists. |
