So Paul Dredge and Garret Sheldon organized a deep-sea fishing excursion off Gloucester on the North Shore. Not a typical activity for yours truly: indeed, the only such trip in my life until then, and I haven’t repeated it since.

But I did catch this cod. Brought it back to Timbaloo and confected it (clumsily) into the best approximation I could manage to the supernal fish chowder at Legal Sea Food. Delicious, if I do say so, though more skill would have been in order.
