1977—the Historic Playroom
N000501CyndiBar
Cindy, going on five, enjoying the Sit’n’Spin and her “MeeMee” in the playroom in Timbaloo’s basement. Can’t find any other photos of this room, but I’ll hang its very significant stories on this peg.

In the basement, only this room and a long-disused toilet enclosure qualified as finished spaces. You can glimpse here a corner of the ceiling and toy-cabinets I installed and the carpet we paid some nice folks “down the Heights” to lay. For most of our time in Timbaloo, our small-screen television set and its rabbit-ear antenna were relegated to this space. A gas-fired space-heater occupied the territory of a former fireplace at the other end of the room. The kids spent a lot of time down here, when weather or inclination kept them indoors.

You can also see part of the bar and its rail and mirrors. Yes, it was a functional wet bar, when we moved in, though we never used it as such. When we showed it to Peter Miller, he commented only that our having it was like giving a nun a subscription to Playboy
