February 18—Only two months left! How hard to bear is old age!
Behold my final companion, Elder R Chris Fee, in command of our assigned Lambretta, tooling about the Touraine on the Lord’s errand.

Chris and I share another distinction: our darling fiancées (his Eve and my Valerie) waited for us through our entire thirty-month missions and actually went through with marrying us! Valerie and Eve, moreover, were acquainted as BYU students, while they waited.

What’s more, each couple remains a team, nearly a half-century later. The four of us reunited last April (2010) with other alumni of the One True Mission, in Salt Lake City.
February 20—Stan Simon, from Paris, chairman of the organizing committee for the Youth Conference, came through here yesterday with Brother Chang to see the facilities we’ve proposed for the occasion. They must have liked what they saw, for they informed us that the conference will definitely take place here. So now we’ve got a big load of work to do, especially in view of the fact that it will be really tough to do better than last year’s conference. We’ve got all we need, though: one of the most touristic places in the world, fine meeting halls, and an energetic committee to make it happen.
