Journal April 18, 1962
April 18—As of today, I’ve been in the mission field six months. Now I have the same amount of time left as a missionary starting out in an English-speaking area. My foreign-assignment advantage is over with! Twenty per cent finished! Can’t believe it.

Started up the MJM this evening, and the meeting went well. I’ll recount only one rather funny item: Yves Daviron, who plays with the Maurepas baseball team against our Cleunay gang, was called on to offer the opening prayer. In which he said, “…and, Heavenly Father, help us beat our brethren from Cleunay.” Most of our team was present, of course; I didn’t count the “Amens” at the end of Yves’s prayer.

April 19Elder Hill got his transfer telegram this morning: he leaves Saturday afternoon the 21st for Lille. This breaks up our amiable little foursome of Hill, Halliday, and Anderobinson. But we’ve agreed to meet at Halliday’s in Salt Lake on April 20, 1967. We’ll see then who has the most hair and the least blubber.

We’re going to see 101 Dalmatians this evening to celebrate Elder Halliday’s birthday, my sixth monthiversary, and Elder Hill’s departure. Some who read this may make a connection to other memories…
