11-3 An interesting experience, and some facets of it are valuable. We spent the whole day [23] working on this group meeting jazz. Elder Breillatt “came through” with some totally useless slides; so, we had to scour the town looking for slides of the Western USA with which to break the ice. About a dozen people showed up, but none of them were interested in a return engagement. Can’t blame them – they were led to expect something else. This is going to get well discussed in my weekly letter to President Hinckley. Elder B. seems to have overstepped his authority once again.

Mlle Leclerc is Bretonne, but she’s studied in England and traveled all over the world. Her English is perfect – we spoke English in our discussions – and she teaches the equivalent of high school courses in English and in English and American cultures. We had occasion to talk quite a while with her and found her completely charming, perfectly friendly, and entirely fascinating to chat with. We’ll look for a chance to preach the Gospel [24] to her. She knows quite a lot about Mormonism already.
