In their new home, the Stillmans were a prominent family from the start.

Here is Page 73 of the Housatonic Proprietors’ Book, in the handwriting of neighbor Daniel Brown, dated 19 May 1756, reporting Mr John Stillman as a member of just about every committee appointed. And the fourth numbered item,¹ notes the appointment of Mr John Stillman as the Proprietors’ Clerk.
