Page 75 appears to display three handwritings:
(1) that of Daniel Brown, Mr John Stillman’s predecessor as Clerk;
(2) that of Jabez Ward, Justice of the peace, who certified to Grandpa John’s swearing-in; and finally
(3) that of John himself, attesting with a seal (if that’s what that red blot is) to the installation of Cornelius Jones as the Town’s first settled minister. This was, of course, a momentous and indispensable step in the creation of a new town.
Or are there only two? The second and third hands are quite similar.
In any case, Grandpa spells better than Brown, and he may write straighter on the page…
