back New Boston Inn
Caught Willard in 2007, walking out of Sandisfield’s only lodging-house, the New Boston Inn, which dates from 1737. It’s neither new nor particularly Boston, but quiet and charming. These days it’s listed as a bed-and-breakfast. I stayed there (in Chamber #1, at the top of the stairs — the two upper windows on the left) on my visits in 2007 and 2009. Kinda expensive for our budget, but very pleasant.

In 2009, we three met for lunch in the Gentlemen’s Parlor (ground floor; the rightmost two windows that show in the photo above), and they let me snap them with my slick new iPhone.
