Months and years passed. Some of our children contributed, but the fund accumulated very little interest in the special account we opened at Direct Federal Credit Union.

Then, in 2005, Cousin Brenda Moffat saw the appeal on my web-site and came in with a significant contribution. Shortly thereafter, Cousin Steve (Stevens Call) Nelson also became actively involved. With these new supporters, I became more assertive and spread the fund-raising net more widely in and around the family. By the fall of 2006, we were ready to design, purchase, and place Grandpa Isaac’s new gravestone.

On Armistice Day (11 November) 2006, we gathered at the graveside in Salt Lake City. Larry Weist of the Deseret News kindly attended our rededication service. As Larry reported (see the next two pages) Steve Nelson came in period costume and favored us with Grandpa Isaac’s
life history. I conducted the gathering and gave the dedicatory prayer. My brother Brent led the singing, and his daughter Rebecca Wilhite made sure everybody signed the guest-book.

We met many cousins and contributors and enjoyed an exhilarating morning.

The next few pages present Larry Weist’s article, the program that we distributed at the rededication, and a transcription of what we said.
