Decker Uncles (3G): Brigham Young Edwin Sobieski Little Feramorz Little Charles Franklin Decker Ephraim Knowlton Hanks Isaac Perry Decker |
My 3rd great-grandparents Isaac Decker and Harriet Page Wheeler played important and honorable roles in the early history of Utah, of the American West, and of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We’ve only recently (November, 2006) erected a long-delayed monument at Grandpa Isaac’s grave in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. I’m doing what I can to uncover their story and to make sure that the family, at least, has it straight. |
Except for Uncle Perry, their caboose son, all six children of Isaac and Harriet married into the very prominent family of Uncle Brigham Young. As, indeed, did Grandma Harriet herself, after she and Grandpa Isaac separated. I’ve snooped around and written a lot about how and why this connection became so strong. Here, I’ll just introduce our two Decker uncles, Charlie and Perry, and five strong and remarkable men who became their brothers-in-law by marrying their sisters.
Here’s how I descend from the Deckers, and how I come to be kin to such a marvelous bunch of uncles. |
