Book Award
Phi Delta Kappa and HGSE held a reception in the garden of the Radcliffe President’s House at 76 Brattle Street, a few doors east of the Cambridge Chapel. Our whole family group was invited, and my visiting ancestors were visibly tickled by the experience. The only piece of formal business I remember was the section of the Book Award, honoring my doctoral thesis as the year’s best.

Our hostess, although I don’t specifically recall meeting her, was Mary Bunting, fifth President of Radcliffe College. She was then just turning over that office to Matina Horner, whose 10-year-old son Chris would later sell us our first video tennis device. Irrelevant, but fun.
