Appendix: Angers

Always recognized and admired the magnificent, ancient solidity of the Château d'Angers, headquarters of the Counts of Anjou in the ninth century and afterward. Decades would pass before I’d awake to the knowledge that Foulques Nerra and Geoffrey V “the Fair” were direct ancestors of ours. Only one of a lot of things I wish I’d known when we were there.
