Appendix-Appendix: Paris |
Le Palais du Louvre |
My laissez-passer from 1963 was still valid (until 1971), and we used it to visit the Louvre, the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, and a number of other splendid museums under the jurisdiction of the Ministère des Affaires Culturelles.
Back then, the National Museums were generally open without charge on Sundays, and the admission fees on other days wouldn’t have kept us away. I’m told all that has changed. This very kind invitation betokened the class, style, and hospitality of our official friends in Paris. |
