Apologies for the carbon (remember those?)—it’s all I have.

Clark Abt and Peter Miller went beyond mere encouragement: they hooked me up with the Paris office of METRA, an international consulting firm, with the thought that I could facilitate joint ventures between them and Abt Associates and perhaps find something that could turn into my thesis. More about how all that turned out, a bit further on.
